Generations of Sass
My name is Stefanie, and I'm the owner of Sassy Scraps Design—a creative collaboration powered by three generations of crafty women. Alongside my mom, Donna, and my grandmother, Martha, we've built a shop that celebrates our shared love of analog and granny crafting with a modern, sassy twist. Whether it's scrapbooking, card making, quilting, sewing, or cross stitch, we believe handmade treasures tell the best stories. Our mission is to share that passion with the Etsy community by creating one-of-a-kind pieces that blend timeless craftsmanship with fresh, playful style.
The story behind Sassy Scraps Design began long before our Etsy shop opened. When I was in high school, my mom and I worked together at a local craft store, and over the years we accumulated quite the "scrap stash." When the store eventually closed as online shopping reshaped the retail landscape, we were left with shelves full of beautiful materials and endless creative possibilities. Instead of letting those scraps go to waste, we challenged ourselves to make them the heart of everything we create. Every design starts with the question, "What can these scraps become?" Add a little creativity, a dash of sass, and a feminine finishing touch, and the result is a truly unique Sassy Scraps Design creation.
In 2020, during a pandemic work furlough, what could have been a difficult season became an unexpected opportunity. My grandmother, my mom, and I spent countless hours together around our craft tables and sewing machines, creating, laughing, and encouraging one another. We decided to make pink lemonade out of lemons and open our Etsy shop. What started as a creative outlet quickly became something much bigger—a way to combine my background in marketing and sales with the handmade traditions passed down through generations of my family, all while building a business that reflects who we are.
Our inspiration comes from three places: the scraps that spark each new idea, today's sewing and crafting trends that we love putting our own spin on, and the nostalgic techniques passed down from one generation to the next. Every project is a conversation between past and present, proving that a pile of scraps can become something beautiful, meaningful, and delightfully sassy.
