Welcome! I'm Matt, the founder of Sentient Designs Co. If you're reading this, thank you for taking an interest in my work. Here’s a bit of background on how and why I started making jewellery.
I've always been fascinated by different minerals, their formation, and the play of color in gemstones. A few years ago, I decided to try my hand at wire wrapping some gems and gifted them to family members.
People began to notice these wire-wrapped pendants and asked where they could buy them. This sparked the creation of Sentient Designs Co., with the idea of making handmade, extra special jewellery. Initially, my focus was on wire wrapping, and during the lockdown of 2020, I made numerous pieces that sold out quickly on our Instagram page @sentientdesignsco and our Etsy shop.
In 2021, resin inlay rings caught my attention. I spent a considerable amount of time researching and learning how to create them. Since then, I've been adding new products and collections to this shop for people to enjoy.
My goal is to continue bringing fresh and innovative designs, as well as exploring other styles of jewellery making. What started as a hobby has turned into an exciting journey.
