Do you ever feel like you were meant for more?
I don’t know about you but whenever I pursue my goals, roadblocks inevitably show up in many different ways, self-doubt, fear of the unknown, or even someone telling you that you’re incapable.
At a young age, I discovered that drawing, painting, and designing brought me so much joy. I participated in the art scene in my town and won art contests at school, in the local community, and even in national magazines!
When I graduated high school, my dream was to study graphic design and become a professional designer. Unfortunately, I was faced with an onsight of pushback from friends and family, they said an art degree would be a waste of time and money. And I started to believe them. I was filled with self-doubt, fear of failure, and terrified of the unknown.
I abandoned my dreams and pursued a degree in early childhood education. Truthfully I felt empty inside and was disappointed that I'd given up on my passion. I wanted to feel the joy that others felt when they pursued their dreams. I knew I was meant for more, but I doubted my abilities.
Three Months after graduating college everything changed, I moved to Texas and was surrounded by new people and beautiful things. This movie inspired me to rekindle my dreams of becoming a designer!
I began designing invitations for weddings, birthdays, and baby showers. Finally feeling the joy I once felt. I knew I found my calling in life!
One day, a lightbulb went off in my head. “You become what you surround yourself with.”
I feel courageous when I witness something bold. I feel free when I see something unusual, I feel inspired and energized when I am surrounded by beauty.
From that day on, I started designing beautiful and inspiring things to surround myself with. I designed desk calendars, wall art, meal planners, birthday invitations, and educational charts for my kids.
The more beauty I produced, the more beauty I attracted, and the more beauty my soul felt. My outer world eventually reflected the beauty of my inner world.
