A not so sordid history of 'Sorted
Ho iniziato questo negozio con l'incoraggiamento di mio marito (allora il mio ragazzo) a fare qualcosa con i mestieri che sto sempre facendo. Mi piace essere creativo e provare cose nuove tutto il tempo e mi sento più a mio agio quando faccio o faccio qualcosa con le mie mani. Amo, filato e tessuto, i colori e le trame mi affascinano. Vengo da una lunga fila di artigiani da parte di mia madre, quindi immagino che sia nel sangue.
Anche senza il negozio che farei e farei cose costantemente, ma questo è stato un buon posto per condividere la mia ossessione per l'artigianato con il mondo in generale e mostrare la mia creatività. Oltre alla capacità di esprimermi, il crafting mi ha anche fornito un modo per aiutare a rafforzare il mio reddito e quello di mio marito durante i periodi di magra.
Per quanto riguarda il nome del negozio... Adoro i giochi di parole, e a quanto pare mi sono sposato in una famiglia di punners mentre ogni famiglia che si riunisce include almeno uno o due casi di giochi di parole degni di gemiti. Ho scelto il nome perché volevo un negozio che mi permettesse di creare cose nuove e sperimentare a piacimento in modo da poter fornire articoli assortiti e vari al pubblico, e mentre vivo con qualcuno con disturbo ossessivo compulsivo ho un costante promemoria che tutte le cose devono avere un certo ordine anche per loro. Così è nato Sorted Sundries..
I started this shop with the encouragement of my husband (then my boyfriend) to do something with the crafts I'm always making. I like to be creative and try new things all the time and I'm more comfortable when I'm doing or making something with my hands. I love, yarn and fabric, the colors and textures fascinate me. I come from a long line of crafters on my mother's side so I guess it's in the blood.
Even without the shop I'd be doing and making things constantly, but this has been a good place to share my obsession with crafts with the world at large and show my creativity. Beyond the ability to express myself, crafting has also provided me with a way to help bolster my husband's and my income during lean times.
As to the name of the shop... I love puns, and apparently I married into a family of punners as every family get together includes at least one or two instances of groan-worthy word play. I chose the name because I wanted a shop that would allow me to create new things and experiment at will so I could provide Assorted and Sundry items to the public, and as I live with someone with OCD I have a constant reminder that all things must have some order to them, too. Thus 'Sorted Sundries was born..
