High Quality Masks Made by Hand
I grew into my love of quilting after working at a fabric company designing and sewing sample products. I began experimenting with designing my own Paper Piecing patterns for work and grew to love the medium. Paper piecing results in such a cool, modern, geometric look versus traditional applique. There is problem solving in the design that I love, and that appeals to the logical and math-minded side of me. The forced minimalism in shape and form gives paper pieced products such a great aesthetic in my (admittedly biased) opinion.
I love sketching a drawing, or taking a picture and then laying tracing paper over it and figuring out how to best transform it into a pattern. You'll always find a sketchbook in my diaper bag as I run around town with my toddler in tow, because you never know when inspiration will hit and when you'll have a few minutes to sketch something. After figuring out the basic pattern by hand I scan and digitize the pattern, working out any little details and creating the PDF pattern and directions.
I've been sewing for the past 30 years so one of my favorite parts in the process is to finally test out my new pattern and see what it looks like in fabric! I love imagining the different ways that my patterns can be used by customers and hope that they provide the same joy to the makers out there that I get my designing them.
