Shop Introduction / About TheUNIT77
TheUNIT77 was established as an experimental design unit to explore the aesthetics of hard science fiction, cyberpunk, and dystopian futures through everyday objects.
The idea began with a simple question:
What if the visual language of a collapsed or highly regulated future civilization could exist in practical gear we use today?
Rather than treating sci-fi imagery as decoration, TheUNIT77 approaches it as functional design—objects that feel like they belong to a system, a facility, or a long-running operation.
The primary inspiration comes from hard science fiction narratives, cybernetic systems, military and industrial design, and the concept of civilizations sustained by technology over vast spans of time. Starship infrastructure, data archives, worn tactical equipment, and fictional control networks all influence the visual direction. Scratches, codes, numbers, and layered markings are not added for style alone—they suggest history, usage, and purpose.
All designs are created using AI-assisted systems and then carefully refined by hand. This process allows complex, information-dense visuals to emerge while maintaining deliberate composition and intent. The result is gear that feels engineered rather than illustrated.
TheUNIT77 exists at the intersection of storytelling and utility.
Each item is designed to feel like a recovered artifact from a functioning—but unseen—future system.
