The idea for ToKnitOrToKnot was initially developed on the playground of my California elementary school in 2007. Making friendship jewelry during recess led to meeting new people, making new friends, having fun, and making a little spending money on the side. Since then, it has grown into so much more. ToKnitOrToKnot has traveled with me all over the world, introduced me to new people, and it continues to bring me joy (and little bit of spending money, too).
In Peru, I had the opportunity to work with a local orphanage and facilitate an art camp. We spent several days making a variety of jewelry pieces and other crafts. My first day teaching in Ghana, I got to know my students as we all made bracelets. Over the following 4 months, my students and I spent hours make bracelets for each other. In Argentina, I got to know local store owners as I became a regular at the local craft shops.
Until our next adventure, ToKnitOrToKnot will be happily knitting and knotting in Chester County, Pennsylvania.
