¡Todo surgió de mi amor por la naturaleza, y todavía surge!
Las flores y hojas que uso provienen de mi jardín, donde las he cuidado y cuidado. No hay nada más satisfactorio para mí que cultivar algo desde la semilla y seguir ese proceso hasta la obra de arte terminada. Usar hojas y flores prensadas con una prensa de flores artesanal, hecha por mi abuelo, fue lo que despertó mi sueño. Mi pasión por la impresión en relieve surgió durante un curso de iniciación en México en 2023, y de inmediato me inspiró a combinar ambas técnicas. Las flores prensadas en mis obras garantizan que cada pieza sea completamente única y me ayudan a conectar con la naturaleza, dedicándome tiempo a estudiar cada pieza con detenimiento.
Mi aventura con el grabado comenzó en San Cristóbal, México, donde tuve la oportunidad de participar en un taller de tres días y desde entonces me enganché. Desde entonces, he asistido a otros talleres para explorar diferentes estilos de impresión y me emociono cada vez con las infinitas posibilidades. Como cuando abres la prensa de flores después de haber guardado hojas y flores durante un mes, disfruto de la sorpresa al imprimir por primera vez un bloque de linóleo que has estado tallando durante horas.
Cada pieza que creo lleva consigo un elemento sorpresa, capturando la imprevisibilidad orgánica del prensado y la impresión. Te invito a explorar el mundo de la naturaleza, la impresión y la preservación a través de mi arte.
It all stemmed from my love of nature, and still does!
The flowers and leaves I use are from my garden, where I have nurtured and cared for them. There is nothing more satisfying to me than growing something from seed and following that journey all the way to the finished art piece. Using pressed leaves and flowers with a handmade flower press made by my Grandfather is what sparked the dream. My passion for relief printing was ignited during a beginners course in Mexico, 2023 and I immediately felt inspired to combine the two techniques. The pressed flowers in my artwork ensures that each piece is completely unique and helps keep me connected with nature by taking the time to study each item carefully.
My journey with printmaking started in Mexico, San Cristobal where I had the opportunity to join a 3 day workshop and from then on I was hooked. I have since been on other workshops to explore different styles of printing and get excited each time at the endless possibilities. Similarly to opening the flower press after leaves and flowers have been hidden away for a month, I relish in the surprise when you first print a lino block that you have been carving for hours.
Each piece I create carries an element of surprise, capturing the organic unpredictability of both pressing and printing. I invite you to explore the world of nature, print, and preservation through my art.
