Exquisite giclees and original art by Agustin Vargas
These limited edition reproductions are created through a process called giclee. A giclee, (pronounced gee-clay) is an individually produced, high resolution, high fidelity reproduction done on a special large format printer. Glicees are produced from digital scans of existing artwork and can be printed on any number of media from canvas to watercolor paper. They are of such phenomenal quality that even some experts have difficulty in distinguishing between a "giclee" and an original work of art. They are coveted by collectors for their fidelity and quality and desired by galleries because they don't have to be produced in huge quantities. Each limited edition print purchased comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist.
It is said that if things cause gratification and are pleasing upon being perceived, we call them sensual, as there arises a stimulus to perceive them with our senses. The works of Agustin Vargas invite us into this works.
Knowing the materials that he uses and aware of the processes employed by great artists of the past, he interprets and resolves with great accuracy the questions of form, color and composition without limiting his own creativity.
Upon observing in his works subtleties as fine threads that drape and bind fruits and insects, we are trapped in a world of textures, of designs, of color and we breathe and partake in his air and light. Very much interested in knowing the formulas of art which combine alchemy with medicine and philosophy, Agustin Vargas has bound the past and tied it to the present with the latest in technology that appears as if by magic and through a process called "giclee" we are shown his craftsmanship.
As an artist and architect, Agustin Vargas' fascination with almost all the art techniques; watercolor, oil, acrylic, pastel, printmaking and ancient techniques such as egg tempura, silver point and gold leaf are found in all of his work. His artwork is in numerous private and corporate collections in the U.S., Mexico and Italy. He has taught at both the University of Mexico and the University of Juarez State, Mexico.
His studio in central Phoenix, Arizona is open to anyone who wishes to visit.
