Artful gifts for readers, thinkers, dreamers & other delightfully obsessed people.
Welcome to Wee Obsessions—a collection of artful things inspired by the little things we love perhaps a bit more than is strictly necessary.
Books. Words. Odd little creatures. Angels with personality. A phrase that makes you laugh into your morning coffee.
I’m an artist, writer, and lifelong collector of ideas, and Wee Obsessions is my playground—a place where I can follow a creative rabbit hole simply because it amuses me.
I’ve spent most of my life making art and more than two decades teaching it. These days I work from my studio on Washington’s Olympic Peninsula, where there are mountains, salt water, enormous skies and no shortage of shiny objects to distract me.
My fine art practice is abstract, but my curiosity has never been particularly good at staying in its assigned lane. I like words. I love books. I notice peculiar little animals. I’m attracted to things that are slightly wonky, unexpected, funny, or just a bit off-center.
Some designs grow out of my original artwork. Others begin entirely as ideas in my head and are developed with digital and AI tools. The Readers collection, for instance, grew from my fascination with wonderfully opinionated women lost in their books. I knew the characters I wanted, then art-directed the images until those women finally showed up—with the right faces, the right rooms, and, most importantly, the right attitude.
However they begin, I play, experiment, try this, change that, and follow the idea down the rabbit hole until it turns into something I want to put on a mug or a tote or whatever.
The result is an ever-growing collection of mugs, gifts, and useful little objects for readers, thinkers, creative souls, and anyone else with an obsession or two of their own.
The things we love don’t have to be important, they just have to make feel good.
Oh, BTW, in case you’re wondering about the furry face in my profile photo, that’s Charlie—studio dog, creative consultant, and Head of Wee Obsessions. He has absolutely no qualifications for the position. His appointment was sheer nepotism.
