Tutto è iniziato nel 2012 con una visita a un negozio Tandy Leather Supply. Ho visto una pelle di mucca appesa al soffitto e ho voluto sapere come avrei potuto lavorarci. Posso dirti che quando ho iniziato, essendo un principiante, ero pessimo. Le mie cuciture non erano un granché. Le mie rivettature non erano un granché. I miei manici erano orribili, le mie borse erano orribili. Avrei potuto scoraggiarmi, ma ho continuato.
Ho seguito corsi alla Tandy e da lì ho ampliato le mie conoscenze, imparando tutto quello che potevo sulla pelle, la fabbricazione di cinture, borse e altri accessori. Ho imparato da Philip Finch, Peter Nitz, Richard Manigault, Ellen M. Valentine e altri. Alla fine, sono diventato piuttosto bravo. Ora, so realizzare portafogli, bauli e tutto il resto. Ciò in cui sono specializzato sono borse di tutti i tipi, bauli, cappelli, berretti e cinture.
I miei progetti sono ora presentati alla New York Fashion Week sotto The House of N'wan come designer collaboratore. C'era un tempo in cui mi offrivo di realizzare una tote per $ 35,00. Ora, le mie borse costano $ 500 in più. Utilizzo i migliori materiali per realizzare i miei pezzi, a partire dalla pelle sostenibile di lusso italiana. Tutti i miei articoli sono realizzati su ordinazione, personalizzati o full couture. Non ho inventario perché quegli articoli verrebbero realizzati da qualcun altro o prodotti in serie. Non abbandonerò del tutto questa opzione. Man mano che crescerò, cercherò i migliori produttori per realizzare i miei modelli. Per ora, progetto e realizzo tutti gli articoli da sola nello Studio AJH. In questo spazio, produco una quantità limitata di ordini all'anno. Questo assicura la massima qualità e attenzione ai miei clienti. Il prezzo per la maggior parte degli articoli è di $ 500 in su. La lista d'attesa può essere di 3 mesi in su per le prenotazioni.
Devi effettuare una prenotazione. Per effettuare una prenotazione è richiesto un deposito del 50% o il prezzo intero. Una volta pagato il deposito, verrai inserito in una coda nella lista d'attesa. Quindi potrò procedere con il progetto. Hai 3 giorni dal giorno del deposito per cambiare idea. Il tuo deposito può essere rimborsato in questo momento. Dopo 3 giorni, procederò all'ordine di materiali e hardware.
Si prega di tenere presente che ho una politica di NO REFUNDS. Ciò è dovuto alla natura degli ordini su misura. I rimborsi vengono presi in considerazione solo quando c'è un difetto nei materiali. Tutti i materiali vengono attentamente ispezionati prima che un articolo venga realizzato. Qualsiasi cancellazione comporterà una perdita di materiali e tempo. It all started in 2012 with a visit to a Tandy Leather Supply shop. I saw a cowhide hanging from the ceiling and wanted to know how I could work with that. I can tell you that when I first started, being a novice, I was lousy. My stitching was not all that. My riveting was not all that. My handles were awful, My bags were awful. I could have been discouraged but I kept at it.
I sought classes at Tandy and expanded from there, learning everything I could about leather, belt making, handbags, and other accessories. I learned from Philip Finch, Peter Nitz, Richard Manigault, Ellen M. Valentine, and more. Eventually, I became pretty good. Now, I can make wallets to trunks and everything in between. What I specialize in are handbags of all types, trunks, hats, caps, and belts.
My designs are now featured at New York Fashion Week under The House of N'wan as a contributing designer. There was a time when I would offer to make a tote for $35.00. Now, my handbags are $500 up. I use the best materials to make my pieces, starting with Italian luxury sustainable leather. This is real leather, not faux, which is 25% or less fossil and 75% or more biobased. I only use solid brass or steel hardware, YKK or Ri Ri zippers.
I worked diligently to become a master leathertier so that I can design and create the best items for my customers. In 2024, I was scouted by Dr. La'tifah Q. Muhammed of Bel Blak Couture to join The House of N'wan as an independent contributing designer. Since then, I have shown my items at New York Fashion Week, and am now a published designer. It all started with a showing in Atlanta in the GoodLyfe Atlanta Queens with Curves Fashion Show. Thank you, Mr. Calvin Johnson.
All of my items are made-to-order, custom or full couture. I do not carry inventory because those items would be made by someone else or manufactured in bulk. I will not totally abandon this option. As I grow, I will scout the best manufacturers to make my designs. For now, I design and make all items myself in Studio AJH. In this space, I produce a limited quantity of orders per year. This insures the highest quality and attention to my customers. The pricing for most items is $500 up. The waiting list can be 3 months up for reservations.
You must make a reservation. A 50% deposit or full price is required to make a reservation. Once you pay your deposit, you will be entered into a queue on the waiting list. Then I can move on with the project. You have 3 days from the day of deposit to change your mind. Your deposit can be refunded at this time. After 3 days, I will proceed to order materials and hardware.
Please be mindful that I have a NO REFUNDS Policy. This is due to the nature of bespoke orders. Refunds are only considered when there is a defect in materials. All materials are carefully inspected before an item is made. Any cancellation will result in a loss of materials and time. I thank you for your support and understanding.
