Yo soy Magz.
En 2017/18 redescubrí cuánto me encanta dibujar, garabatear y hacer garabatos. El siguiente paso obvio fue crear una marca dominante a nivel mundial para inundar el mundo con todo mi material artístico.
Trabajando desde casa, abrí mi pequeña tienda Etsy y me pregunté si alguien querría comprar una postal o una tarjeta de felicitación adornada con mis garabatos, o quizás incluso tener la tentación de comprar una copia impresa de uno de mis dibujos. ¡Para mi absoluta sorpresa, lo hicieron!
Trabajo principalmente con lápices de color, pero también experimento con acuarela, acrílico, pasteles, rotuladores y, por lo general, termino salpicando un poco de todo en cada pieza a medida que avanzo.
Yo diría que tengo dos tipos de arte (¡típico de Géminis!). Un lado son dibujos y pinturas muy detallados, el otro son gráficos de dibujos animados que uso para calcomanías y cosas así.
Prefiero utilizar métodos tradicionales para pintar y dibujar, pero me gusta utilizar un poco de tecnología digital para la mayoría de los trabajos gráficos. Aun así, siempre empiezo una nueva imagen gráfica con lápiz y papel en mis cuadernos de bocetos de confianza. A partir de ahí, tomo una foto o escaneo el boceto básico para volver a dibujarlo y colorearlo en mi tableta (Galaxy S6 Lite).
Todas las cosas que tengo en mi tienda, tanto en línea como en persona (¡recientemente comencé a tener una mesa de comerciantes en convenciones de cómics y ferias locales!) están hechas por mí, desde el diseño hasta pegar los interiores en cada tarjeta de felicitación a mano y hacer los paquetes de calcomanías desde cero.
De vez en cuando, alguien me cuenta su historia relacionada con el motivo por el que compra una determinada tarjeta o una impresión en particular, ya sea para sí mismo o para regalarle a alguien querido. De repente, esa obra de arte, que comenzó como un boceto en mi tablero de dibujo, se ha convertido en algo único y especial para alguien que nunca he conocido en algún lugar del mundo. Esta es solo una de las cosas maravillosamente inesperadas que han sucedido como resultado de volver a tomar el lápiz y me sorprende cada día.
Soy solo una pequeña tienda y tal vez tenga que esperar un poco para la dominación multiglobal, pero me lo estoy pasando genial y espero que algunos de mis garabatos te saquen una pequeña sonrisa.

Back in 2017/18 I rediscovered how much I love drawing, scribbling and doodling. The obvious next step was to create a multi-global dominating brand to inflict the world with all my arty stuff.
Working from home, I opened my little Etsy shop wondering whether anyone would like to buy a postcard or greeting card adorned with my scribbles, perhaps even be tempted to purchase a print of one of my drawings. To my absolute surprise, they did!
I work mainly with colour pencil but also dabble with watercolour, acrylic, pastels, marker pens and usually end up splatting a bit of everything on any given piece as I go along.
I’d say I have two types of art going on (typical Gemini!) One side is highly detailed drawing and painting, the other being cartoony graphics which I use for stickers and things.
I prefer using traditional methods for painting and drawing but I like to use a bit of lovely digital tech for most of the graphics work. Even so, I always start a new graphic image with good old pencil and paper in my trusty sketchbooks. From there I take a photo or scan the basic sketch to redraw and colour it on my tablet (Galaxy S6 Lite.)
All the things I have in my shop, both online and in-person (I’ve recently started having a trader table at local comic-cons and fairs!) are made by myself from the design, right down to sticking the inners into each greeting card by hand and making up the sticker packs from scratch.
Occasionally, someone tells me their story connected to why they are buying a certain card or a particular print, either for themselves or to give to someone dear to them. Suddenly this piece of art, which began as a sketch on my drawing board, has become something unique and special to someone I have never met somewhere in the world. This is just one of the wonderfully unexpected things that has happened as a result of picking up the pencil again and it amazes me every day.
I’m just a tiny shop and might have to wait a wee while for the multi-global domination, but I’m having a total blast and hope that some of my scribbles will give you a little smile.
