Il mio negozio non si chiamava sempre betsyDesign.
Ho iniziato il mio negozio dopo il college nel 2008 e l'ho chiamato Lizardous. Ho venduto oggetti fatti a mano, decorazioni per la casa e vintage - come faccio oggi. Ho scelto questo nome perché sentivo che comprendeva le collezioni scatter-brained che amo (e perché il mio nome adulto è Liz e il mio amore per le lucertole). Amo il vintage e amo "fare" le cose. Adoro come alla fine della giornata posso guardare la mia creazione e dirmi "L'ho fatto". Adoro il modo in cui sono capace e appassionato di oggetti fatti a mano e di sostenere tutto ciò che rappresentano.
Circa un anno fa avevo bisogno di un cambiamento: volevo tornare alle mie radici del mio nome originale da bambina (Betsy) e ho deciso di rinominare il mio negozio come betsyDesign. Ho imparato a creare cose quando ero più giovane - sono cresciuto in un caseificio nel wisconsin nord-orientale e mia madre mi ha insegnato a cucire, lavorare a maglia e lavorare all'uncinetto. Trasferendomi nel sobborgo di Chicago non avevo più quelle lezioni di insegnamento a tarda notte per imparare una nuova abilità, ma volevo mostrare per sempre la mia gratitudine di quei giorni.
Oggi -- faccio le cose. Faccio cose che amo e che voglio condividere con te. Voglio che tu veda qualcosa nel mio negozio e sappia che è stato fatto con cura e amore. Voglio che tu abbia quella connessione con qualcosa che ho fatto che potresti avere con un profumo che non senti da molto tempo, ma quando lo fai ti fa sorridere. Voglio che tu sappia che metto molta cura nel rendere i miei articoli e descriverli al meglio per le mie capacità e cerco di utilizzare materiali riciclabili per la spedizione.

My shop was not always called betsyDesign.
I started my shop after college back in 2008 and I named it Lizardous. I sold hand-made items, home decor, and vintage -- as I do today. I chose this name because I felt it encompassed the scatter-brained collections that I love (and because my adult name is Liz and my love of lizards). I love vintage and I love "making" things. I love how at the end of the day I can look at my creation and tell myself "I made that." I love how I am capable and passionate about hand-made items and supporting everything they stand for.
A year or so ago I needed a change -- I wanted to go back to my roots of my original name as a child (Betsy) and decided to re-name my shop as betsyDesign. I learned to create things when I was younger -- I grew up on a dairy farm in Northeastern Wisconsin and my mom taught me how to sew, knit, and crochet. Moving to the suburb of Chicago I no longer had those late-night teaching-lessons of learning a new skill, but wanted to forever show my gratitude of those days.
Today -- I make things. I make things that I love and want to share with you. I want you to see something in my shop and know it was made with care and love. I want you to have that connection with something that I've made that you might have with a scent you haven't smelled in a long time, but when you do it puts a smile on your face. I want you to know I put great care into making my items and describing them the best to my abilities and try to use recyclable materials for shipping.
I want you to experience betsyDesign.
