Datter Industries es un proyecto de la ilustradora Kaye Blegvad (¡yo!) para crear joyas sutiles y narrativas. Comenzó en la ciudad de Nueva York en 2010, pero desde entonces ha cruzado el Atlántico y todas las piezas ahora están hechas en mi estudio de Londres.
Datter es mi esfuerzo por convertir dibujos e ideas en joyas. Todas las piezas comienzan como modelos tallados a mano en cera, que luego se funden y terminan individualmente en mi estudio. Me gusta que mi trabajo muestre signos de estar hecho a mano, nada demasiado limpio o demasiado perfecto. El proceso es parte del producto. Me inspiro en todo el lugar: artefactos antiguos, talismanes, rituales, ocultismo, armamento y el mundo natural.
¿Por qué Datter? Es la palabra danesa para 'hija'. Es parte 'datos' parte 'materia'. A mí me parece un poco alquímico.

Datter Industries is a project by illustrator Kaye Blegvad (me!) to create subtle, narrative jewellery. It began in New York City in 2010, but has since crossed the Atlantic and all pieces are now made in my London studio.
Datter is my endeavour to turn drawings and ideas into jewellery. All pieces start out as models hand carved in wax, which are then cast and finished individually in my studio. I like my work to show signs of being handmade - nothing too clean or too perfect. The process is part of the product. I draw my inspiration from all over the place - ancient artefacts, talismans, ritual, the occult, weaponry, and the natural world.
Why Datter? It's the Danish word for 'daughter'. It's part 'data' part 'matter'. To me, it seems a little alchemical.
