Como antigua diseñadora de interiores, siempre doy importancia a la incorporación de elementos naturales en los espacios que diseño, ya que la belleza y la sencillez de estos elementos tienen un efecto revitalizador para el alma. Mi trabajo en fieltro encarna plenamente este principio y abraza el hermoso círculo de apoyo entre las ovejas, sus pastores, yo como artista y usted como receptor, permitiendo así que este círculo de cuidado continúe.

Me ha interesado mucho trabajar casi exclusivamente con ovejas de razas raras y patrimoniales, y como miembro de Livestock Conservancy, me regocijo con su lema: "Afeitarlas para salvarlas". Al usar lana de estas hermosas razas, ayudamos a los pastores de pequeñas granjas familiares que se dedican a salvar estas razas en peligro de extinción. Como compro lana de muchas de las mismas granjas año tras año, tengo el lujo de obtener la mejor calidad y, a menudo, ¡solicito mi oveja favorita!

Desde el punto de vista del diseño, dejo que cada vellón me inspire y permito que el color, la longitud de la fibra, la textura, la suavidad (o aspereza) al tacto y la limpieza determinen en qué se convierte cada pieza. No produzco en masa y cada artículo que elaboro está hecho a mano. Disfruto cada vellón crudo y sin procesar que desenrollo sobre mi mesa de trabajo, donde dejo volar mi imaginación artística, dando como resultado un producto final de diseño único que querrás usar una y otra vez: piezas que se sienten bien en tu hogar y que son aún mejores para convivir con ellas.

Jackson Studios embraces the elements of nature by designing beautiful fiber art pieces for you, your home and even your pets!

As a former interior designer, I always place emphasis on incorporating natural elements in the spaces I design as there is a beauty and simpliciity in these elements that have a restorative effect of the soul. My felted work fully embodies this principle and embraces the beautiful circle of support between the sheep, their shepherds, myself as the artist and you as the recipient thus enabling this circle of stewardship to continue.

I have taken a keen interest in working almost exclusively with rare and heritage breed sheep and as a member of the Livestock Conservancy rejoice in their motto of "Shave 'Em To Save 'Em". By using wool from these beautiful breeds we are helping to support the shepherds on small family farms who are dedicated to saving these endangered breeds. Because I purchase from many of the same farms year to year, I have the luxury of obtaining the best quality and oftentimes request my favorite sheep!

From a design standpoint, I let each fleece "speak" to me and allow the color, lock length, texture, tactile softness (or coarseness) and cleanliness determine what each fleece becomes. I do not mass produce and every single item I make is done by my own hands. I delight in each raw, unprocessed fleece that I unroll on my work table where I let my artists eye have liberty, resulting in a finished product that is uniquely designed and one that you will reach for again and again - pieces that feel good in your home and even better to live with.
