OffGrid Devices è nato con una telefonata a tarda notte. Un amico mi ha parlato di Meshtastic e, alla fine di quella chiamata, avevo già ordinato due nodi. Ero completamente preso, non solo dalla tecnologia, ma anche dalla comunità. Persone che si collegavano ogni settimana, osservavano la crescita della rete mesh, esploravano le potenzialità della comunicazione off-grid. Ero completamente coinvolto.

L'idea per questo contenitore è nata da un semplice quesito: continuavo a dimenticare il mio nodo a casa quando portavo a spasso il cane. Ma non dimenticavo mai il telefono, e il mio portafoglio MagSafe era sempre lì. Quella è stata la scintilla. Perché non avere un nodo sempre con te, agganciato direttamente al tuo telefono?

Ho iniziato a progettare il primo prototipo il giorno del Ringraziamento. Sono seguiti mesi di iterazioni: notti insonni, stampe fallite alle 4 del mattino e una ricerca ossessiva dei magneti giusti. I magneti compatibili con MagSafe non si possono ordinare su Amazon. Ho contattato diversi fornitori, testato innumerevoli combinazioni, finché non ne ho trovati di paragonabili – e in molti casi più potenti – agli accessori MagSafe ufficiali. È una scelta del tutto intenzionale.

Ogni contenitore è progettato, stampato e testato da me. Allego una nota scritta a mano in ogni confezione perché, se acquistate qualcosa che ho costruito da zero, meritate un ringraziamento personale.

OffGrid Devices started with a late-night phone call. A friend told me about Meshtastic, and by the end of that call I'd already ordered two nodes. I was hooked — not just on the tech, but on the community. People checking in weekly, watching the mesh grow, exploring what off-grid communication could be. I was all in.

The idea for the enclosure came from something simple: I kept forgetting my node at home when I'd take my dog out for a walk. But I never forgot my phone — and my MagSafe wallet was always on it. That was the spark. Why not have a node that's always with you, snapped right to your phone?

I started designing the first prototype on Thanksgiving. What followed was months of iteration — late nights, failed prints at 4am, and an obsessive search for the right magnets. MagSafe-compatible magnets aren't something you can just order off Amazon. I worked through multiple suppliers, tested countless combinations, until I found ones that are comparable — and in many cases stronger — than official MagSafe accessories. That's completely intentional.

Every enclosure is designed, printed, and tested by me. I include a handwritten note in every package because if you're buying something I built from scratch, that deserves a personal thank you.
