La mia storia di quilting è iniziata con un viaggio in Wisconsin per visitare un amico. Aveva le trapunte più carine e accoglienti nel suo salotto. Ha detto che prima di partire, mi avrebbe insegnato come fare una trapunta di pezza. Abbastanza sicuro, sono salito sull'aereo di casa con la mia morbida e adorabile trapunta di pezza nascosta in modo sicuro nel mio bagaglio a mano. Tornai a casa e decisi di farne un altro. Poi ne ho fatto uno per mia madre. E amico mio, poi un altro amico.
La mia prima vendita su Etsy è stata celebrata con una danza gioiosa intorno alla casa. Anche ora, sono estremamente solleticato quando vendo una trapunta su Etsy o privatamente. Sono orgoglioso del fatto che il mio tessuto sia tutto riciclato - tessuto mai usato dal negozio dell'usato, articoli di abbigliamento usati delicatamente e avanzi dalle scorte di tessuto di amici e colleghi. Le mie trapunte sono eco-verdi e impossibili da ricreare. Ecco perché sono perdonati per aver fatto sembrare la mia casa a volte una fabbrica tessile. My quilting story started with a trip to Wisconsin to visit a friend. She had the cutest and coziest quilts in her living room. She said that before I left, she'd teach me how to make a rag quilt. Sure enough, I boarded the plane home with my soft and adorable rag quilt safely tucked into my carry on luggage. I got home and set out to make another one. Then I made one for my mom. And my friend, Then another friend.
My first sale on Etsy was celebrated with a joyful dance around the house. Even now, I get extremely tickled when I sell a quilt either on Etsy or privately. I take pride in the fact that my fabric is all upcycled - never used fabric from the thrift store, gently used clothing items and leftovers from the fabric stashes of friends and coworkers. My quilts are eco-green and impossible to recreate. That's why they are forgiven for making my house look like a textile factory at times.
