Add some flair to your wall with original flamingo art! This one-of-a-kind sculpture wall hanging features a fancy coral pink American Flamingo, and is sure to delight anyone who loves these striking birds. It would also be eye-catching decor in a beach-themed room.
I sculpted this handsome bird from Super Sculpey polymer clay, and it’s attached to a 9 x 12-inch cradled birch panel that is ready to hang. The sculpture was made without the use of molds. After sculpting, I hand paint my creations with acrylics. To ensure a long lasting finish and enhance the luster of the paints, the piece is coated with a water-based matte varnish. 3-D crystal lacquer was applied to the eye to add a life like quality. I painted the front and sides of the panel with a satin finish interior paint. These panels are very easy to hang as the edge fits nicely over nails or hooks.
A few flamingo facts: The American Flamingo (Phoenicopterus ruber) is the only flamingo that naturally inhabits North America. Their life expectancy of 40 years is one of the longest in birds. They only lay one egg each year, and both parents raise the young.
SIZE: This wall hanging weighs 1 lb. 12.2 oz. (.508 kg). The flamingo measures about 9” (22.86 cm) tall and the body is about 5 1/2” (13.97 cm) wide. The overall thickness of the sculpture is about 1 1/2” (3.81 cm). This particular sculpt is mounted to a 9” (22.86 cm) x 12” (30.48 cm) cradled birch painting panel, and is 1 5/8” (4.13 cm) deep. I painted the fronts and sides of the panel with a satin finish interior paint. These cradled panels are ready to hang - the edge fits nicely over nails or hooks.
