The Cardigan wrap is inspired by the setting sun and all the beautiful colors it can create, almost like the sky is a watercolor painting. I wanted to try to capture this image into a wrap by blending multiple colors. As you can see in the pictures, I’ve tried to work the colors in a ‘natural’ order, just like you would get if the sun was setting.
As it is inspired by nature, it is part of my Poetry Collection. The pattern is therefore accompanied by a poem in the hopes that it gives more dimension to your crochet <3
***Multi-purpose Cardigan and wrap***
I also wanted it to be multi-purpose, an item you can wear in different ways so you can wear it throughout the year. The armholes are intentionally not in the middle, so you can vary with different styles: wear it with the armholes high for a long back, or wear it with the armholes low for a shawl collared cardigan. See the pictures for examples.
The wrap uses Scheepjes Organicon in the following colors and no. of balls:
Color A: 217 Fresh Air – Baby blue x 4
Color B: 207 Apple Blossom – Hot pink x 4
Color C: 205 Lavender – Purple x 1
Color D: 204 Lavender Haze – Light purple x 1
Color E: 216 Soft Sky – Light blue x 1
Color F: 206 Soft Blossom – Light pink x 1
Color G: 208 Peach Fuzz – Light orange x 1
Color H: 209 Desert Bloom – Orange x 1
Color I: 211 Gentle Primrose – Yellow x 1
Color J: 210 Buttermilk – Light yellow x 1
***About the pattern***
* A written pattern in US terms and Dutch
* Tutorial photos for the important details and for the joining instructions
* A chart for the main square pattern
* A schematic for where to place each colored square
* The squares are made with a two color linen stitch
* The squares are joined with a variation on the matress stitch, so the coloring of the join is invisible and does not take away from the coloring of the squares
* The wrap is finished with a multicolored border to make the most of your left-overs.
1 finished square measures 11x11cm/4.4x4.4” before blocking, using 3.5mm hook. The Cardigan Wrap measures 135cm/54” long and 70cm/28” wide after blocking.
The pattern was tested in English. The Dutch version was not tested, so little typos may occur. Please contact me via email if you have found one, or if you need help with the pattern. aspoonfulofyarn [!at] hotmail.com

this is by far my most favorite project/pattern yet! the pattern is perfectly laid out and all details covered (thank you SO much for warning about the rippling and the angle of the piece! i would have gone crazy not knowing this!). the pictures are a huge help. the yarn choices couldn’t be more perfect. i am almost halfway through crocheting it and i am already in love! 💚
Love it! The tutorial is written in a clear, straightforward fashion, and includes specific techniques such as magic ring in the file, so there's no need to look them up as you crochet. It also lists all the materials needed for the project, including the display case and the supplies needed to pin your "insects". Highly recommended!
I absolutely love Christina’s patterns. They are so well laid out - so easy to understand - so much detail so that you know EXACTLY what to do each row/round. You will not be disappointed w any of her beautiful designs!!
