Willem George Frederik Jansen (1871-1949) is a Dutch painter from The Hague school in the second generation. This painting is related to the painting "aan de wal", which came to auction at Christie's. The paintings offered here are twice as wide as the little brother who came to the auction. It captivates mainly by its representation of the sky, which makes up almost 2/3 of the image. It does not fit into the pictures of WGF Jansen otherwise so gloomy painted. That's why it's so unusual, because rare. The picture is probably from the 20s of the last century.
