I'm an artist and writer. I've written two books, lots of magazine articles and co-created my own magazine with my husband. I love animals, especially cats and rabbits, and I have always loved mermaids. This shop came to being when I was working on my second book at home with two kids under the age of five and got slammed with terrible case of writer's block. Horrible! I couldn't write a word, and I was under contract. I started playing with clay. First I made some mermaids. Then some cats. Then some rabbits. Then some more cats. And then I started painting and writing letters from a cat. The writing came back, but the block left me with an artistic expression I didn't know I had, and a shop full of little animal sculptures and an illustrated letter subscription service. So now I'm a big fan of creative blocks--I see them as doorways to parts of yourself--your spirit, your craft, your capabilities, that you weren't otherwise able to find. I am very excited about my newest project, Letters from Veronica, which combines the writing and the animals! I hope you enjoy them!
