Il fatto che abbia deciso di andare al FIT per studiare moda mi sorprende ancora oggi. La verità è che era una specie di campo di sinistra. E mi stavo davvero spingendo a candidarmi perché non ero affatto qualificato (infatti, la prima volta che ho fatto domanda, non sono stato accettato). Il fatto che ho continuato a spingere, imparare e sforzarmi di più è una vera testimonianza del mio profondo amore per la creazione di abbigliamento. Il motivo per cui mi sorprende è perché ho scoperto questo amore un po 'tardi nella vita. Ma onestamente, sono sempre stato un fioritore tardivo.

Una cosa che ho imparato rapidamente alla scuola di moda è che ero molto più interessato a creare abbigliamento che a disegnarlo. È stato in questo periodo che ho scoperto la crescente comunità di cucito indie e sapevo di aver trovato la mia nicchia. Da qualche parte intorno al 2011 ho deciso che un giorno avrei disegnato e venduto modelli di cucito, anche se non avevo idea di come avrei fatto a realizzarlo.

Avanti veloce fino al 2017 e sono così entusiasta di debuttare il mio primo modello. Crescere con la straordinaria comunità di cucito online è stata una tale benedizione, e non potrei essere più felice di essere in grado di fornire a quella comunità modelli unici e di qualità redatti con una cornice minuta in mente. Il movimento fatto a mano è quello che mi sta a cuore e non vedo l'ora di contribuire con il mio design unico e il mio stile di costruzione.

Insegno nello stesso modo in cui cucio, un metodo che chiamo la "catena di montaggio". Questa tecnica ti aiuterà a fare meno viaggi avanti e indietro dalla tua macchina al tuo ferro e, si spera, ti aiuterà a diventare un cucitore più veloce ed efficiente.

Non vedo l'ora che tu cuci insieme a me mentre coltivo la mia linea di modelli per offrire un intero guardaroba pieno di abbigliamento divertente ma comodo.

The fact that I decided to go to FIT to study fashion still surprises me to this day. The truth is, it was sort of out of left field. And I was really pushing myself to apply as I was not at all qualified (in fact, the first time I applied, I wasn’t accepted). The fact that I kept pushing and learning and trying harder is a true testament of my deep love for creating clothing. The reason it surprises me is because I discovered this love a little late in life. But honestly, I’ve always been a late bloomer.

One thing I quickly learned in fashion school is that I was far more interested in creating clothing than I was designing it. It was around this time I discovered the growing indie sewing community and knew I had found my niche. Somewhere around 2011 I decided that one day I would be designing and selling sewing patterns, even though I had no idea how I would make it happen.

Fast forward to 2017 and I am so excited to debut my first pattern. Growing with the amazing online sewing community has been such a blessing, and I couldn’t be happier to be able to provide that community with quality, unique patterns drafted with a petite frame in mind. The handmade movement is one that I hold dear to my heart, and I look forward to contributing my unique design and construction style.

I teach in the same way I sew, a method I call the “assembly line”. This technique will help you make less trips back and forth to from your machine to your iron, and hopefully help you to be come a faster, more efficient sewist.
