Empecé a coleccionar cartas en la escuela primaria, sobre todo de Pokémon y Magic: The Gathering. Como la mayoría de los coleccionistas, guardaba todo en carpetas. Son geniales para mantener las colecciones completas organizadas, pero también significaba que las mejores cartas solían estar escondidas a menos que alguien las estuviera hojeando. Siempre me gustó enseñar a mis amigos las cartas que me entusiasmaban, y con el tiempo empecé a desear que hubiera una mejor manera de tenerlas a la vista.
Esa idea acabó convirtiéndose en The Card Collective. Empecé a construir marcos para mis propias cartas y pasé meses creando prototipos de diferentes diseños, perfeccionando la construcción y la iluminación hasta conseguir el resultado perfecto. Los álbumes siguen siendo útiles para colecciones completas, pero estos marcos iluminados están pensados para las cartas más importantes para ti, las que quieres ver cada día.
Para mí, eso incluye mi colección de variantes de Magic: The Gathering Phyrexia: All Will Be One Oil Slick.
Es el tipo de colección que quiero ver y disfrutar, no tenerla escondida en una carpeta.
Founder, The Card Collective
I started collecting cards in primary school, mostly Pokémon and Magic: The Gathering. Like most collectors, everything lived in binders. They’re great for keeping full sets organized, but it also meant the best cards were usually tucked away unless someone was flipping through the pages. I always liked showing friends the cards I was excited about, and over time I started wishing there was a better way to actually have them out where you could see them.
That idea eventually turned into The Card Collective. I began building frames for my own cards and spent months prototyping different designs, refining the frame construction and lighting until it felt right. Binders still make sense for complete collections, but these illuminated frames are meant for the cards that matter most to you, the ones you want to see every day.
For me, that includes my Magic: The Gathering Phyrexia: All Will Be One Oil Slick variant collection.
It’s the kind of set I want to see and enjoy, not keep hidden away in a binder.
