How does the magnetic knife holder attach?
Our magnetic knife holders are designed to attach directly to a suitable magnetic surface, such as the side of many refrigerators, using strong magnets built into the back of the holder. No drilling or permanent installation is required when using the magnetic mounting option.
The holder also includes mounting provisions for installation on a suitable wall when magnetic mounting isn't an option.
Will it work on my refrigerator?
The holder requires a surface that strongly attracts a magnet. Many refrigerators have magnetic steel sides, but some stainless-steel and other appliance surfaces are not magnetic.
Before ordering, test the location where you plan to install the holder with a reasonably strong refrigerator magnet. If the magnet attaches firmly, the surface may be suitable for magnetic mounting.
We recommend mounting on the side of a refrigerator rather than the front door.
Will the magnets scratch my refrigerator?
The back of the holder is designed to protect the mounting surface during normal use. As with any item attached to a finished appliance, make sure both the refrigerator surface and the back of the holder are clean and free of grit before installation or repositioning.
What kinds of knives will the holder hold?
The magnetic knife bar is designed for common steel kitchen knives. Magnetic attraction varies with the knife's steel composition, size, weight, shape, and the amount of metal that contacts the holder.
Some stainless-steel knives are much less magnetic than others, so we recommend checking your knives with a magnet if you are unsure.
How does the interchangeable artwork work?
The decorative artwork is a separate removable insert held securely in the knife holder. This allows you to change the appearance of your holder without replacing the entire unit.
Additional inserts can be purchased separately, making it easy to change artwork for a new look, season, or kitchen decor.
Can I purchase additional art inserts later?
Yes. One of the main ideas behind our design is that the holder can remain in place while the artwork changes.

Are your products made from real wood?
Yes. Our products use real wood, hardwoods, veneers, and wood-based components selected according to the requirements of each design.
Because wood is a natural material, grain, color, knots, and other characteristics vary from piece to piece. These variations are part of what makes each handcrafted product unique.
Where are HoosierEdgeWorks products made?
Our products are designed, made, assembled, and finished in our Indiana workshop using a combination of traditional woodworking and modern laser technology.
