The evolution of Lithe-Fider Creatures
I have a long history of being artistic. I went to college for art and design and graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Animation. I love designing characters and costume props, and bringing them to life!
I started making plush around 2002 - the same year I started cosplaying too! It began with a want to make plush of obscure characters from videogames/anime I loved, but there was no plush available to buy. I did all the sewing by hand back then!
As the years went on I started making more and more complex costumes, and my sewing skills developed. I learned to use a sewing machine to sew the main parts - looked so much nicer! At this point I'd only sold sewn accessories like clip on ears, bags, etc...but I also wanted to sell plush. To do this I had to design my own original creatures! I began designing plush that would be my own distinctive look.
After graduating I opened an Etsy. Starting in 2009 I began selling at Anime con artist alleys, and now attend 1-2 a year. I opened a dedicated tumblr craft blog in 2012 so people could track my creative process and see when I post new plush for adoption.
I finally hit the right mark in 2010 when I began making handmade wool felt, and my signature owlets were born. I love the look and feel of soft, quality wool roving, and after collecting a lot of it I kept trying to think of ways to utilize it that was not spinning or knitting (cause I do neither of those things). The unique look, texture, and colors of the handmade wool felt has become one of my trademarks, and is used in most plush I design.
I am so happy so many now follow me and love my work! I appreciate every single person. I have shipped my creatures all over the world (I have a lot of international fans!). When you buy my plush and other sewn creations, you are buying a one of a kind piece, lovingly designed and made by my hands, and supporting me as an artist for future endeavors!
