Why MarMadeThat?
I've been crafting for as long as I can remember, but I never thought to sell my products until I made a feminist painted denim jacket for my sister's birthday. I posted it on Instagram, and the messages starting coming in - "Will you paint my jacket? I'll pay you!"
It started small, a friend would drop a jacket off at my house, I'd paint it, and they'd Venmo me for the art. When I moved to New York City I decided to start my Etsy as a true small business. I started embroidering, and put the watercolor cards my family always asked me for up on my shop. Just like that, MarMadeThat was born.
MarMadeThat products are perfect to give a gift with a whole lot of meaning behind it - you can customize them with a pet, a meaningful quote, a special flower, or anything you like. You know your custom order is one of a kind, it is made by hand, and it gives back to communities in need.
I try to source all of my materials sustainably whenever possible, and always use recycled packaging when mailing out orders. Etsy offsets all carbon emissions from shipping - just one of the many reasons I love being an Etsy seller!
My name is Marina, Mar for short, I live in Vermont and I work remotely for a nonprofit organization in New York City. I love my job, and this creative "side hustle" serves as a way for me to give back to nonprofit organizations as well. While I am hoping to use my earnings here to save for graduate school, a minimum of 10% of my proceeds (though certain items in my shop donate more) are donated to a nonprofit organization, and each quarter I choose a new organization to support. If you have an organization you are passionate about feel free to let me know - I'm always open to suggestions!
