The dream of slow fashion
I started sewing clothes and accessories for babies and kids on Etsy as a hobby, 10 years ago. The hobby became a passion, so I quit my job as a psychologist and started sewing full time. Quickly I felt the need to explore the process of creating and designing clothes. I started designing and selling sewing patterns of my simple pieces, such as babies accessories and basic wardrobe. A couple of years later I went to patternmaking school (YES, back to school at 40's!!) so I could learn professional pattern making, which lead me to create my new brand TRAMApatternstudio.
I believe that sewing our own wardrobe reduces our footprint on the planet (fashion industry is the second largest pollutant in the world). When sewing, we tend to upcycle old pieces of clothing that otherwise would end up on the trash bin, we pick up fabric leftovers from the fabric shop, we have a greater control of the source and materials of our clothes, and go for more eco-sustainable choices. Plus, we tend to treat with esteem our handmade objects, making it last longer. Only one knows how it was to give life to it!
The way we dress has become part of our identity and of how we communicate with the world. But nowadays, it is also a way of communicating HOW WE CARE for the world.
My purpose is to help people curate an essential set of simple and uncomplicated pieces, with minimalist lines, which adapt to different times and contexts.
