How garbage from the ocean can be turned into wonderful images

It all started at a boring moment at a beach in Spain that was full of waste. I started to fiddle around with some plastics and soon I had made a boat, a cow and a man. From that moment on, I always carry a bag with me when I go to the beach. I love the saltwashed colours of the plastics and the weird materials I find. Everything will eventually find it's place in a piece of art. My rule is that I may not adapt the materials I find - I have to use it the way I find it. But sometimes, I accidently step on a piece of plastic when it's really necessary... My pictures are pure as well: I use photoshop as less as possible. It's all about purity!

I often combine the plastic soup with images from vintage magazines. The warm colours of those magazines match the plastics, ropes, shells and pieces of wood.

My aims are: 1. save the environment. Waste should not be on beaches and in oceans; 2. revalue the art of old-skool fiddling. It it not necessary to buy all kinds of expensive stuff to make something nice; 3. keep myself busy on a Saturday night when nobody wants to go out.

And most of all, I really love making it!!!

Making long walks along the coast is one of the things I love the most, next to going to the pub and that kind of stuff. Some time ago I started to collect plastic I found at the coast and turned it into images. This upcycled plastic soup is what TrashWorks is.

Welcome in my little shop with cards and prints made of materials I found at the seashore and vintage magazines. It all started during a boring moment on a Spanish beach filled with trash and it resulted in an unconditional love for ''plastic soup''. The saltwashed colours of the plastic (and other materials) and the warm colours of vintage images match wonderfully and I love putting it all together in beautiful images. My aims: 1. save the world, obviously; 2. revalue the art of old-skool fiddling; 3. keep myself busy on a Saturday night when nobody wants to go out.

Enjoy my shop.

All the best, Elza
