Tutto è iniziato con un pezzo di marmo.
Non il tipo di pietra levigata che si vede nelle hall degli hotel, ma una lastra grezza e dall'aspetto insignificante che ho trovato nel deposito di un tagliapietre. Quando l'ho rigirata tra le mani, ho visto le venature: delicate linee grigie che attraversavano la pietra bianca come fumo ghiacciato. Ho appreso in seguito che quelle venature si sono formate nel corso di milioni di anni, una testimonianza dei movimenti e degli assestamenti della terra molto prima che l'uomo vi camminasse sopra.
Portai a casa quella lastra. La modellai, la levigai, la lucidai a mano per ore. Ne scaturì un vassoio: semplice, pesante, fresco al tatto. Ci tenevo le chiavi e le monetine. Ma catturava anche la mia attenzione. Ogni volta che lo guardavo, mi ricordavo che era antico. Che aveva aspettato nell'oscurità che io lo trovassi.
È così che è nata Trueround.
**Il Marmo**
Tutti i nostri vassoi in marmo sono ricavati da pietra naturale proveniente da cave dell'Europa meridionale e dell'Asia. Non utilizziamo mai resina o pietra artificiale. Ciò che vedete è ciò che la terra ha creato. Ogni vassoio è lucidato a mano per ottenere una finitura liscia, simile al guscio d'uovo, morbida al tatto ma sufficientemente resistente per l'uso quotidiano. Le venature di ogni pezzo sono uniche: non riceverete mai un vassoio uguale a quello di nessun altro.
**La Porcellana**
Le nostre tazze di Jingdezhen provengono da un unico laboratorio nella città che ha dato al mondo la porcellana. Le fornaci di Jingdezhen sono in funzione fin dalla dinastia Song e gli artigiani con cui collaboriamo fanno parte di una tradizione ininterrotta di maestria nella lavorazione della ceramica. Ogni tazza è modellata al tornio o a mano, poi smaltata in piccoli lotti. Le leggere variazioni di forma e smalto sono intenzionali: sono la firma di un artigiano, non di una macchina.
**Perché lo facciamo**
Viviamo in un mondo di cose identiche. Lo stesso telefono. Gli stessi mobili. La stessa tazza da caffè bianca su migliaia di scrivanie.
Pensiamo che ci sia un altro modo.
Un oggetto con una storia, geologica o culturale, cambia il modo in cui vivi una stanza. Ti rallenta. Ti fa notare.
Che si tratti di un vassoio di marmo per custodire i vostri gioielli o di una tazza di porcellana per scaldarvi le mani, speriamo che i nostri oggetti portino un po' di quella serenità nella vostra vita.

It started with a piece of marble.
Not the polished kind you see in hotel lobbies, but a rough, unremarkable-looking slab I found at a stonemason's yard. When I turned it over in my hands, I saw the veins—delicate grey lines running through the white stone like frozen smoke. I learned later that those veins were formed over millions of years, a record of the earth shifting and settling long before humans ever walked on it.
I took that slab home. I shaped it, sanded it, polished it by hand for hours. What emerged was a tray—simple, heavy, cool to the touch. It held my keys and loose change. But it also held my attention. Every time I looked at it, I remembered that it was ancient. That it had waited in the dark for me to find it.
That's how Trueround began.
**The Marble**
All our marble trays are cut from natural stone sourced from quarries in southern Europe and Asia. We never use resin or engineered stone. What you see is what the earth made. Each tray is hand-polished to a smooth, eggshell finish that feels soft to the touch but is durable enough for daily use. The veining on every piece is unique—you will never receive the same tray as anyone else.
**The Porcelain**
Our Jingdezhen cups come from a single workshop in the city that gave the world porcelain. Jingdezhen's kilns have been firing since the Song Dynasty, and the craftsmen we work with are part of an unbroken lineage of ceramic mastery. Each cup is wheel-thrown or hand-built, then glazed in small batches. The slight variations in shape and glaze are intentional—they are the signature of a human maker, not a machine.
**Why We Do This**
We live in a world of identical things. The same phone. The same furniture. The same white coffee mug on a thousand desks.
We think there's another way.
An object with history—geological or cultural—changes the way you experience a room. It slows you down. It makes you notice.
