Connecting the World Through Warmth
There is something magical that occurs when you can take a raw material like yarn and turn it into something tangible ..something unique and warm and comforting, something that envelopes you and fosters a sense of security. One of my favorite memories as a child is being cuddled by my Grandmother in an afghan she made with her own two hands out of remnants of raveled sweaters she had made for her nine children. It is a connection I will carry with me throughout my days. Our eldest daughter now owns that afghan, it is my Grandmother's legacy and wrapped within it is where my idea for Pixiebell grew.
I did not know in 2007 that I had so much to say as a designer, I was merely trying to construct a hat for myself that spoke of my own sense of style. I soon realized that I craved this outlet and that although I cannot paint a picture or write a song, I have a voice that needs to be heard in the form of woven bits of yarn and string, a need to comfort and envelope and connect.
I was born and raised in Vermont into a family of dairy farmers, professional chefs and stewards of the land. I am a self-taught knitter, crocheter and designer. I have been a proud member of Etsy for over 18 years.
