Yes, that IS crochet! The hook I use is just under 1 mm, and the cotton thread used to make the portraits is about 1/50 inch. The portrait is mounted to acid-free, archival quality watercolor paper, which means your memory can be preserved for decades to come!

Your portrait shall be hand-crocheted from your photo with cotton embroidery floss. The minimum-sized width will be about 5.5 inches wide, and height will depend on the photo. Realistic color schemes average 12 colors, or 10 shades of gray-scale. Turnaround time is approximately 3-4 weeks (larger portraits increase time); progress photos will be e-mailed to you. Pictured above are samples, not products.

Please contact me prior to purchase! Half-down payment is required in order to begin work on your portrait. Please note that the listed price accounts for the labor and mounting of a minimum sized square item ONLY. Size of portraits, as well as the exact price, are determined by the pattern created from the photo.

HOW THIS PROCESS WORKS:

First, you need to contact me :) Send me your photo and let me know if you want me to build something special, and I'll let you know if it will be priced differently from the listing.

2) Please tell me how often you are usually able to respond to emails. The reason for this is explained in number 4.

3) Once the final project and price are settled, I will bill you for half of labor.

4) I will send you progress pictures for approval. After sending each picture, I will not continue work until a response is received. This deeply affects completion time, and if completing a project takes a lot longer than expected (say, 2 months instead of 3 weeks), you will be charged a weekly Overtime Fee. However, if you tell me from the get-go that you might only be able to respond once every two weeks, I can estimate completion accordingly.

5) Once I finish crocheting and mounting the project to watercolor paper (or otherwise completing something special), and you are happy with it, I will bill you for the other half of labor, materials, and shipping (and if necessary, Overtime). Once paid, your new artwork will be on its way to you!
