An 18K white gold Art Deco filigree engagement ring with a quarter-carat Old European Cut diamond flush set in an attractive mounting. The most eye-catching feature of this ring is the starburst detail around the diamond: a crisply articulated, eight-pointed star within the octagonal head. Pierced, lacy details up the shoulders and around the gallery taper quietly to to a slim, plain shank. This ring was made by Belais, a company founded by David Belais around 1918 in New York City. Belais was known for being an early pioneer in manufacturing white gold in America. White gold was a good alternative to platinum, which was needed for World War I and II.
