I am Makiko and I live in Canberra, Australia. I opened the makico.happy creations store because I believe that sometimes in life we can get a bit busy with study, work, and family commitments and need little things to remind us to be happy.

One of the most important things in my life is talking with my family and best friends. Whenever I doubt myself or feel sad, they always help lift up my soul and put a sparkle back on my face. Even if they are not close by we are all under that same sky.

I usually find my happy place when I am looking at the stars and moon, dreaming about my life, walking in nature, hugging a big tree and patting animals. Simple little things bring so much happiness.

Why origami?-because it’s where I can find my happy place.
Folding origami paper is one of my favorite ways to find my happiness. I enjoy doing it by myself and with my children.
For me "Origami" brings back wonderful childhood memories. I used to visit my grandfather’s house on the way back home from my primary school. He liked making and teaching me how to make nature inspired origami creations. I grew up in a farming and nature filled area of Japan which has inspired a life-long love of nature which I try to bring into my designs.

We hope our creations bring a little bit of sunshine & you feel happier than yesterday.
