Q: How do you describe your journey as an artist?

As a child I stumbled across the beautiful illustrations of Yoshitaka Amano and was immediately hooked on art and design. My whole world changed that day; since then I've been drawing, sketching, coloring, and creating art in every spare moment. I've grown to appreciate the power of abstract art to fuel the imagination and engage the heart, but I still consider my roots to be in character design.

Q: Tell us about your studio?

My choice in media rotates between watercolors, acrylics, oils, mixed media, and occasionally digital tools, depending on the mood of the day and the task at hand. So in my studio I prioritize flexibility, simplicity, and sunlight. I have two work stations - one large surface for drawing and painting, and a computer station for scanning, color correction, and printing.

Q: What's a pinwillow anyway?

I try to surround myself with things that make me feel calm and relaxed, but also creative and imaginative. That's the mental space where I've had my biggest breakthroughs that have reshaped my life in new ways. And it's why my work is all about inspiring creative energy and cultivating peacefulness through abstract forms and soothing colors.
