Living the coastal life, cooking for the coastal table
The story of building a dream home and a fresh start with enjoyable detours on the way into making or doing things for yourself
It’s the dream many of us have but few can live – to swap city life for the coast, enjoying the cycle of the seasons and the flavour of food fresh from the ocean or garden.
Join British-born Deborah Hide-Bayne as she deepens her love affair with coastal New Zealand and gets stuck into a lifestyle that literally stopped her in her tracks when she first passed through expecting little more than happy holiday memories.
This is life lived simply and joyfully – the story of building a dream home and a fresh start with enjoyable detours on the way into making or doing things for yourself: art and craft projects, collecting seafood, making a vegetable garden and growing your own veggies, planting an orchard, smoking a fish, making sausages and an abundance of other projects, large and small.
Starting in the Spring, read this book season by season, and either follow Deborah on her journey or dip a toe into one or two things that you’ve never attempted before...

I ordered this as a gift for my sister in law who is from New Zealand and is living in the states. She loves cookbooks and I knew this would be a great gift for her. She is absolutely going to love it. I cannot wait to give it to her. Fantastic quality and the shipping was great as well. Could not have been better. Thank you!!
A very cool and functional piece of art. Shipping was quick and very carefully packaged.
