My primary inspiration comes from my fixation with the dark, painful, and secretive aspects of the feminine. I find the female characters in myths and folktales particularly compelling because they embody these aspects in a visual way. The women I paint are expressions of these timeless archetypes, and the simple and graphic style I use to depict them is intended to reflect their severity and beauty. Whether it’s the naïve maiden, or the wrathful huntress, breathing life into the character allows me to express my inner life, and I hope my paintings inspire others to explore their own inner natures.
