Quería crear recuerdos de los libros que añadieran algo a mi vida.
I wanted to create mementos of the books that added something to my life.
Hago libros pequeños porque son lindos y quiero cubrir mi refrigerador en ellos, y los estoy poniendo en esta tienda porque creo que algunos de ustedes también podrían amarlos y encontrarlos adorables.
No me considero especialmente artístico. No puedo dibujar ni pintar para nada, y mis habilidades fotográficas no son nada especial, por lo que me ha llevado un tiempo sentir que realmente podría hacer algo llamado "arte".
Mi inspiración viene directamente de los libros que leo. Soy un coleccionista de copias físicas, y actualmente poseo más de 200 libros porque me encanta tener algo real en mis manos para leer y porque el arte de la portada es hermoso y porque ¿y si quiero releer algo? Agrava eso con mi amor por las cosas pequeñas y adorables y de ahí es de donde vino mi idea de los libros en miniatura.
Ahora he visto algunas otras cosas como esta, pero siempre parecía que alguien imprimió la portada real del libro y la envolvió alrededor de algunas páginas, pero eso me parece incorrecto; Tengo los libros reales para ese estilo. Es por eso que desarrollé una especie de estilo minimalista. Para reducir las cubiertas a tal tamaño, es imposible mantener cada detalle, así que ni siquiera lo intento. Mi enfoque se basa en formas generales, sombreado y fuente (se puede ver especialmente en los diseños de Shades of Magic). Hay muchos aspectos de mis pequeños libros que quiero mejorar, y estoy constantemente buscando mejores materiales y técnicas. Aun así, estoy muy contento con el lugar en el que estoy en este proceso por ahora, y espero que ustedes que han encontrado esta tienda también estén contentos con ella.
TL;DR I make tiny books because they're cute and I want to cover my fridge in them, and I'm putting them in this store because I think some of you guys might love and find them adorable, too.
I don't consider myself to be especially artistic. I can't draw or paint for anything, and my photography skills are nothing special, so it's taken a while to feel like I could really make anything called "art."
My inspiration comes directly from the books I read. I'm a collector of physical copies, and I currently own over 200 books because I love to have an actual thing in my hands to read and because cover art is beautiful and because what if I want to reread something? Compound that with my love of tiny, adorable things and that's where my idea for miniature books came from.
Now I've seen some other things like this, but it always seemed like someone printed out the actual cover of the book and wrapped it around some pages, but that just seems wrong to me; I have the actual books for that style. This is why I developed a sort of minimalist style. To shrink covers down to such a size, it's impossible to keep every detail, so I don't even try. My approach is based on general shapes, shading, and font (can especially be seen in the Shades of Magic designs). There are plenty of aspects of my little books that I want to improve, and I'm constantly searching around for better materials and techniques. Even so, I'm so happy with where I'm at in this process for now, and I hope that you who have found this shop are happy with it also.
