Copper Catkin, or a tale of three C's

Copper Catkin showcases the drawings and artwork of Cat Drayer from Wellington, New Zealand.

I came up with the 'Copper Catkin' name some time ago. The contradiction appealed to me - the fluffy catkin, made of shiny metal. I chose copper as a nod to my interest in all things Steampunk, and I have loved catkins since I was a wee kitling myself. The combination of soft plant and hard metal is also a quiet homage to NZ's silver fern.

The logo is based on 'C' to the power of three - the third 'C' being my name (Cat) - and the heart emoticon incorporates that superscript '3' to represent the loving marriage of technology and creativity.

Under this banner, I have created drawings, paintings, jewellery, colourables, kits, and custom-printed fabrics - I hope you enjoy them as much as I have enjoyed making them!

      Owner, Creator, Designer

Cat loves drawing things and using the drawings to make other things. When she is not drawing or making things, she is thinking about drawing or making things, or doing her day job in IT. Drawing and making things helps maintain a healthy balance.

    • Spoonflower

      Durham, NC

I have loved Spoonflower since I first discovered them in mid-2009. When I couldn't find the right fabric for my wedding outfit, I designed my own, and got a bit hooked. Since then, I have used Spoonflower for all my fabric printing needs.

    Custom and personalised orders

I do not currently offer custom orders, as I don't have capacity. I will update once I can accept custom orders again.

    Care instructions

The earrings are hand-assembled using glass tiles, paper, lacquer, glue, and hypo-allergenic stainless steel hooks. Earrings should not be submerged or submitted to prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, as this can cause the lacquer to fail.

    Intimate items definition

For hygiene reasons, I only accept exchanges or returns for earrings if they are faulty, as the hooks cannot be reused.

    Wholesale availability

I do not offer wholesale at this time.

    Postage

As postage costs are huge from New Zealand, we do not offer international postage as standard. Please contact us if you would like to discuss international postage.

All packages must be tracked as a minimum, courier preferred.

If a tracked items is lost in transit, we will discuss replacement according to our terms and conditions, but please note: as all Copper Catkin earrings are one-off, handmade items, any replacement will not be a perfect match for the original order.

    Packaging

We use home-compostable and recyclable packaging and protective materials wherever possible. In some cases, we will re-use clean bubble wrap and cardboard from previous packages that we have received.

Some jewellery products will also be wrapped in biodegradeable cellophane; please bear with us as we phase this option out.

All products are made and stored in a smoke-free home with cats and a dog.
