Frequently asked questions

Custom and personalised orders

I am more than willing to chat with anyone about anything they want made in Blender which I can then unfold in Pepakura Designer so that I can make a PDO file. The more detailed and complicated the file the longer it will take and the more it will cost, I can do discounted jobs so long as I can sell the files myself but if you want exclusivity then you pay for my full time.

Sizing details

If you require a file of a specific size i can either spend time editing the 3D model to fit your body shape (you have to provide pics for me to work from) or I can make a generally average shaped model that you can edit the pieces of once the files have been printed out and glued together. The latter option will save you some costs as it will be faster for me but you will have to spend more time working on the final pieces to fit them to your costume, if I scale the model to fit then all the parts should fit well enough to not need any adjustments by you.

Wholesale availability

If someone wants to buy my 3D models and PDO files in order to sell them onwards I will be more than willing to discuss a price that gives you the full ownership of my work along with a solemn pledge that I will not sell the files you purchase to anyone else EVER!

If you require more than one of my files and are willing to discuss with me which ones then I will definitely consider offering a discount for bulk orders of 5 or more files.

Care instructions

As my work is limited to the virtual world the only thing you need to do is make sure you keep the files safe, once purchased and downloaded the files are your responsibility. That being said if you lose or otherwise manage to destroy the integrity of the files you have purchased, please feel free to contact me about arranging a replacement file for which there will be a small surcharge but it will be considerably less than the cost of buying the files all over again.

How long do Commissions take to be completed?

A lot of the time it takes me to finish a job is directly linked to the difficulty of the 3D models requested, the longer it takes me to finish the 3D model because of adding detailed parts then the longer it will take me to finish the unfold.

On average my models and unfolds take between 6 and 12 hours to complete however I rarely get the time to spend just doing that work so it usually ends up taking me between 3 and 9 days from the moment I get the pictures of the item you want me to model.

What is Pepakura?

Pepakura Designer is a piece of amazing software made by the people at Tamasoft which you can download and trial for free but you will need to purchase a key from the people at Tamasoft in order to save and export your finished unfolds.

In essence it allows you to import a 3D model in OBJ or STL format, which you then spend the time marking out the cut lines on, once you are ready you click on the unfold button and the software then turns your 3D model into a series of 2D shapes which are arranged onto whatever paper type you set the program up to use.

What do I need to do after I buy & download the file?

Once you have the files you need to make sure you have Pepakura (download the program free from Tamasoft) installed onto your PC so that you can open the PDO files and print them out.

FOAM files need to be printed onto regular printer paper and then transfer those patterns onto your EVA FOAM, you can use Contact Cement to join the foam pieces together to make your prop which you can cover in PVA & Plasti-Dip.

PAPER files need to be printed onto CARD STOCK (min 110GSM) which you can stick together with either Hot Glue, Super Glue or PVA Glue (my personal preference) to form the base of the prop. The part needs to be covered in a layer of resin to stiffen it, you then cover the outside with ar Body Filler and sand it into the final shape.
