La historia detrás de Held in Light
Hola, soy Maryna, la fundadora y creadora de Held in Light.
Durante más de 14 años trabajé en ventas y desarrollo de negocios, disfrutando siempre del proceso de construir algo desde cero. Pero tras dejar Europa del Este y comenzar una nueva etapa con mi familia en Estados Unidos, tuve la oportunidad de crear algo que realmente sentía como mío.
Así comenzó Held in Light.
Siempre me han encantado los pequeños detalles que hacen que un hogar se sienta cálido y especial: el aroma a naranjas y canela en invierno, las flores y hierbas secas, la madera natural, los colores otoñales y la tranquila sensación de confort de un día lluvioso. Vivir en el noroeste del Pacífico, rodeada de bosques, montañas, lluvia y el cambio de las estaciones, se convirtió en una maravillosa fuente de inspiración para mis colecciones.
Quería crear algo más que velas comunes. Quería que cada una capturara un sentimiento, una estación del año o un recuerdo.
Cada vela de Held in Light nace de una idea en mi mesa de trabajo. Creo los diseños, elijo las fragancias y los detalles naturales, y elaboro cada vela a mano. Incluso secamos muchas de nuestras propias naranjas y limones, y preparamos los ingredientes botánicos que se incorporan a los diseños finales.
Held in Light también es una historia familiar. Mi esposo, Ihor, siempre está ahí, entre bastidores, ayudándome a recolectar flores y hierbas, preparar los pedidos, empacar las cajas y enviar sus velas a hogares y pequeñas tiendas de todo el país.
Lo que comenzó en una pequeña mesa de trabajo se ha convertido en una marca cuyas velas ahora se encuentran en hogares y tiendas independientes de todo Estados Unidos. Pero la esencia de Held in Light sigue siendo la misma: crear algo hermoso a mano y compartir un poco de calidez de nuestro hogar al tuyo.

The Story Behind Held in Light
Hi, I’m Maryna, the founder and maker behind Held in Light.
For more than 14 years, I worked in sales and business development, always loving the process of building something from the ground up. But after leaving Eastern Europe and starting a new chapter with my family in the United States, I had the opportunity to create something that felt truly my own.
That’s how Held in Light began.
I have always loved the little details that make a home feel warm and special — the scent of oranges and cinnamon in winter, dried flowers and herbs, natural wood, autumn colors, and the quiet comfort of a rainy day. Living in the Pacific Northwest, surrounded by forests, mountains, rain, and changing seasons, became a wonderful source of inspiration for my collections.
I wanted to create more than ordinary candles. I wanted each one to capture a feeling, a season, or a memory.
Every Held in Light candle begins as an idea at my worktable. I create the designs, choose the fragrances and natural details, and make each candle by hand. We even dry many of our own oranges and lemons and prepare botanicals that become part of the finished designs.
Held in Light is also a family story. My husband, Ihor, is always there behind the scenes — helping me gather flowers and herbs, prepare orders, pack boxes, and send your candles on their way to homes and small shops across the country.
What started at one small worktable has grown into a brand whose candles can now be found in homes and independent stores across the United States. But the heart of Held in Light remains the same: creating something beautiful by hand and sharing a little warmth from our home to yours.
