About ReviveDesignsNZ

My name is Debra and I was born and raised on a sheep farm in a tiny little village called Pongaroa which is very rural East Cost of the North Island, New Zealand. I have a strong connection for our mother Earth, nature and especially Wool. My hope is that by crafting by the age old traditions of Weaving and Spinning, my pieces can bring a little calming nature to modern life.

My work is inspired by nature and it's pretty things, I love going for walks and getting ideas from our beautiful landscape: the sea, our beautiful forests or my home garden. My favourite walks are in the NZ bush, this gives me inspiration for deep and earthy tones. Colour is very important and I spend a lot of time with this element. As you can see in my weavings I'm not scared of bold colours and I love my weavings for this.

I source my fibre locally and only buy off farmers that farm for fleece. These sheepies are very happy and well looked after, most of them have names which I love. I love going out to the farmers where I can see the sheep running around, it takes me back to my childhood, it all just feels good in my heart and I know I'm doing the right thing for me. I love creating beautiful pieces weather it be weaving, making yarn, art batts, knitting, dyeing fibres or making jewellery. I'm blessed that I have this creative outlet (or therapy) while raising 3 young children. My new passion is botanical dyes and I'm learning and playing with natural dyes, I will be adding natural dyed pieces to my shop bit by bit and I just may go completely botanical.

My work is very heartfelt and I put a lot of love and energy into each piece so I hope my work fills your heart.

Feel free too follow me on Instagram at debragracedesigns where you'll see a lot of "behind the scenes" from cute sheep to my dye pots, weaves from start to finish or something that I think is pretty or just a lovely photo.
