Beautiful custom-made item perfectly realized. Very cooperative and friendly seller who wanted to make sure it came out right. And it did!

Simply Sweet As.

I've always adored making things right from when I was very small. I remember making a little mouse out of paper (called Minima) as a four year old who I carried around everywhere until I lost her in a pile of wood I was exploring (I went back periodically for years searching for her in the cracks). I would make animals from toilet paper tubes and paper (even cutting nicks in the edges of the circles so the paper didn't crease). I drew butterflies and argued with a friend about weather they had legs or not (I was of the opinion that they did have legs - after careful observation). My mother, who also loved to create taught me to sew. So by the time I started school all I wanted to do was draw, paint, glue, cut, sew and stick! When adults asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up I said “An Artist!”

As I went through school I continued to love and do well in art and made tonnes of things in my spare time including complete outfits for my Cabbage Patch Dolls. I won awards for arts and continued to develop my skills.

In high school I fell in love with photography as well as all the other media I already enjoyed and after my final year decided to do a Bachelor of Design. I picked Painting as my major as it was the most flexible of all the topics and meant I could use lots of different media. I still loved making all sorts of things. In the last year (2005) of my four year degree I started selling artwork (Under the name Amy Fletcher Artworks) but it has been on a rather small scale since then. That selling was done through some galleries and word of mouth but now I have discovered Etsy!

While I was at University I also fell in love with surfing and began traveling around New Zealand a lot. I think New Zealand is such a beautiful and unique place. I'm so proud to be a Kiwi! I love to express my love of New Zealand and the coast through my creations.

Then I discovered Doll House Miniatures and the Shabby Chic style and fell in love all over again! Oh how delightful miniatures are and Shabby Chic is just so sweet! So now I have more to learn and more to make and I need somewhere for all these creations to go! That is where you come in!

I now want to build my business and become more successful at selling what I make. I chose the name Sweet As Creations for several reasons. One was that I love puns and “Sweet As” was a nice play on words between a classic New Zealand saying (meaning "Very good"/"Thats fine" etc) and the way I would describe the Shabby Chic style and cute little miniatures. I chose the word Creations because I love making all sorts of things and didn't want to be limited to making only one type of item.

Welcome to my shop and I hope you think my creations are 'Sweet As' too!

I love making things! I make paintings, etchings, photos, miniatures and more! When I'm not creating things I like to surf, travel, write and read.
