About

squiggly creatures

My life, as seen from space, is a dotted line that leads from a small town in Germany to Art College in Stuttgart, on to London, where I earned an MA in animation at the Royal College of Art, and then across the pond to Portland, Oregon.
In the UK I worked as a freelancer for media companies including Aardman and the BBC before taking a job with animation studio LAIKA in Portland. As a designer and a director I have shaped the look of award winning advertising campaigns and short films. I have also contributed character designs to feature film development.
My sculpture work has been featured in galleries along the american West Coast and in Australia. If you are curious about my other work in sculpture, illustration and animation I invite you to take a stroll around my website. http://gesinekratzner.com

A little while ago I was on TV! Oregon Public Broadcasting made a short documentary about me. Watch it online here:

My life is pretty rad. I get to make art all day every day, which is all I ever wanted to do. I am so happy to be able to share some of my creations with the wider world here on etsy!

If you are looking for the blobhouse line of garden sculptures and planters, which is a collaboration between me and Georgetown Homa & Garden, please go to www.blobhouse.com

Squids and Grumpy Pets, Worry Warts and Astroturf Planets, Love Bunnies and newly discovered bird species. There are strange places and creatures to discover in this shop.
Everything you see is lovingly handmade by me and usually all pieces are originals that only exist once. Sometimes, like in the case of my popular worry warts, I make more than one. But even then I don't use molds, but sculpt and paint each one individually, giving them each their own unique character. I also love to make custom orders.
Check back from time to time, because things change often around here!
