I started sewing in 2007 after my second boy was born. It was a rainy day in February and I just broke out my Kenmore 10 that my mom had given me and made a pillow, the way I thought a pillow should be sewn:) Ever since then, sewing has become my passion, my hobby, my constant source of creativity and inspiration. I just LOVE it! I also seem to have a serious obsession with garage sales and Flea markets, estate sales and thrift stores where I seem to find the best in vintage fabric. That's when I started Vintage Sol, my first small venture in selling my handmade goodies. I had been giving my products as gifts for years and people seemed to like them, so I made a batch of bags, make up bags and vintage wallpaper tags and sold them at a friends annual holiday open house. I began incorporating new fabrics and then decided that I had to change my shop name, as everything was not vintage anymore. While trying to come up with cool name I kept describing my stuff as "cute, bright things" and it just sorta stuck! I've been on etsy since 2006 as a buyer and now as of November 7th, I have my own shop and it's a Cute Bright Thing:)
