5 out of 5 starsSo happy with this, looks great! It's been hard to find a decent alphabet frieze with good illustrations and examples for each letter. This ticks all the boxes and as a bonus goes great in our little one's jungle themed nursery. I like that some of the squares have another animal in the background with the same letter too. Postage was cheap and quick considering coming from so far. Very happy :)

Artistic theory behind Animal ABC wall frieze
Animal ABC's was the first frieze in the series of three wall graphics for children.
A wall frieze is the perfect way to familiarise children with the alphabet. The colourful animals and the typeface suitable for beginner readers can be clearly viewed on the wall from distance of cot/bed. With its bold lines and bright shapes Animal ABC is designed to communicate with young babies, toddlers and up to and including school age children. Children have a natural fascination with animals and this frieze has common domestic pets and more exotic creatures from around the world – their vastly different behaviour and contrasting home environments can be a great talking point. The animals to retain their distinct characteristics while looking friendly (not hungry or scary). The frieze was also to serve as a pictorial guide to animals drawn true-to-form, simplified but avoiding being a cartoon.
Arrives flat, protected in a cello sleeve and is presented wrapped in a cover which holds the frieze in six sections. Can be put up as a wall chart or continuous frieze (442 cm x 21.5 cm) around the room. Each letter page is 17 cm x 21.5 cm. The paper is 100% recycled and is commercially printed in New Zealand using vegetable-based inks.
Recently I have made Animal ABC wall frieze into a movie by animating the animals and adding sounds. The alphabet is narrated with a New Zealand accent. The trailer version of the movie features A to G – it is lighthearted and fun viewing for young children. You can watch it here with Etsy or on YouTube. Enjoy!
