FREijA is an independent fashion brand run by designer Yumi and her mother from a small studio in Japan. We create one-of-a-kind and small-batch pieces using unexpected materials and methods, including kimono textiles, fabric cords braided using techniques inspired by traditional Japanese kumihimo, seatbelt webbing, and recycled materials.

For this Etsy shop, we select handmade pieces from our wider body of work that feel especially connected to Japan, including kimono remakes and bag handles made by braiding handmade fabric cords using kumihimo-inspired techniques.

We also offer distinctive Japanese vintage fashion and textiles, carefully chosen through a designer’s eye.

This shop is where original design, handmade craftsmanship, Japanese making, and thoughtfully curated vintage come together. Every item is either made by us with care or individually selected by hand.
