About

some time ago, with my grandmother and mother, i found rummage sales to be my life's most fun. i had been raised up to age of 6 without much exposure to goods and services especially things such as frilly negligee's and lacey scarves. but went along with my mentors to their home extension club house (1960s) to set up a rummage sale. I had a few quarters that i had saved from chores and i always seemed to carry them around in my little coinpurse usually inside a big ol bag handbag my granny had given to carry around my doll and such. this particular day i was allowed to "shop" with my quarters, after the club members set the sale up. I still remember the lacy headscarf and the pink filmy nightgown from some womens wedding trousseau probably that was donated to make money for the club. i played dress up for hours with those purchases, and i do not know if i got them with my quarters as that was the price or if the ladies "cut" me a deal!!…

as life went on, working 2 or 3 jobs never seemed to make enough money to keep myself and my daughter into storebought clothing, but garage sales and thrift stores always came to the rescue when something was needed. i was not raised with brand name awareness, and for that I am sorry for my children, but in those days, I truly did not think spending all that money for clothing to be "in" was important, but still I tried to cater the clothing I did find to their liking I even fudged and found some name brand labels that seemed to be the "thing" and re sewed those into thrift store clothing so they would feel proud. now my secrets out. but still, once they get out of high school, and some as far down the line as thru college - still think they must have high dollar tags on clothing that is current trend, whatever current trend is. but as most can tell you, normal life does not dictate to trends as much as making the bucks does, esp once you get your own family. I have crafted so many things in my years on earth that I find it quite fun to see if i can create popular items, and love it when the vintage stuff i find is back "in" again. that means the stuff in storage is a good thing to drag out and fluff up a bit to make it Irresistible to todays shoppers.

I have a stash of leather goods, and denim as well. in the next few months, we are making a move, sometime in the fall of 2016, I plan to be back on etsy selling my own handcrafted items, as well as turning denim and leather into loveable handbags and other such accessories to offer to friends and family and put on etsy as well. I have been recuperating for many months now from hip replacement surgery and need a torn out shoulder fixed, but going to try to get thru rest of my wonderful blessed life with arm as is. plans are to convert my old school bus into my studio sewing and crafting space. will post pics and feature our story in an upcoming season soon. stay tuned, if etsy will allow, I will be back, this time with only my own creations.
