About

My passion for photographing nature began in my own backyard as I started feeding and attracting hummingbirds. I decided I wanted to try to photograph them (yes, I started with a monumental challenge). I purchased my first DSLR camera (a Sony A200) in 2009, and I opened this Etsy shop the very next year.

As the name implies, A Feathered Image began with a focus on our feathered friends. My first goal was the hummingbird, and once I acquired the necessary equipment, I was able to take some beautiful shots of them. I also captured images of local backyard birds such as finches, cardinals, and woodpeckers.

It was now time to branch out, so I ventured away from home to capture beautiful landscapes, flowers and animals. And when I can’t spot the wildlife, I head to the zoo. I fell in love with the Milwaukee County Zoo in late 2012 with the announced birth of two jaguar cubs. I still refer to them fondly as “my boys.” As you can see from my shop, the zoo has become my favorite place to spend weekends. I especially love taking close-up shots of animals, as it really shows their personalities.

When I opened my shop, my only offering was prints. I have recently added some exciting items other than prints. These include sandstone and slate coasters, keepsake boxes and notecards, with much more to come. So stop back often to see what I have to offer.

I am so wildly passionate about what I do, that I quite often say that my day job in accounting seriously gets in the way of what I love most, and that’s seeing life through my camera lens and sharing that view with others.

I hope that browsing through my shop puts a little smile on your face. I mean, when you see a photo of a baby jaguar or baby snow leopard, how can you help but smile?
