About

Bonjour! Welcome to A French Twist…my little piece of France in The States’ historic, colonial Salem, New Jersey. I love all things French! From the cool, calm Nord-Pas-de-Calais in the north to the vibrant, sunny Provence in the south, from the sparkling, embellishments of Paris to the simplistic, beauty of the countryside, I could spend the rest of my life exploring this country and never become indifferent.

But it is not just the style that I am drawn to, rather also to the lifestyle that this country embodies: the love and respect of tradition and craftsmanship, the devotion to nature and countryside, the dedication to re-inventing instead of discarding, the image of simplistic sophistication, and the understanding of balance. This to me is France.

About

So this is what I offer to you, a shop that tries to both encompass the style and the lifestyle of France. A French Twist presents not just French inspired vintage items, but also upcycled creations and homemade pieces. I am Emily, creating, inventing, discovering and working constantly to move closer to my dream of living the “French lifestyle” in America. Some weeks I spend hunting through flea markets and antique warehouses while other weeks I’m locked away in my sewing room or workshop to concoct my little creations and still other weeks I’m spending time with family, gathering their creations, admiring their craftsmanship, and prepping their items for posting to this store. A French Twist will inadvertently reflect this: my work habits, my moods, and my family bond. While this store is my vision, it is my family’s refuge…a place for us all to be accepted as artisans and respected for our commitment to quality and craftsmanship. This is a family store.

With all that said, Bienvenue (welcome) to A French Twist! Feel free to browse around and come back often as we are constantly changing and adding new items. Convo me with any questions, comments, suggestions, requests, or just to say bonjour!

I am currently preparing my homemade pieces and upcycled creations for Easter so look for them to be posted soon. Meanwhile, please take note that all objects are mailed to you in 2 to 3 business days after your purchase. The upcycled and homemade items listed are at this time made prior to selling so what I have pictured is the exact item you will receive.
