About

Welcome to my Etsy page. I've been a crafter ever since I can remember. My Dad builds planes, so did I; my Mom crocheted, I tried; my sister quilts, well I appreciate the work and both my grandmothers were amazing needle artists. The whole family makes stuff. My maternal grandmother always said, "if you can make something with your hands, you will never go hungry". It is a phrase that is with me whenever I am weaving.

Although my interests vary, my love is weaving... some cloth weaving, but mostly baskets.

I love Shaker baskets and New England baskets because working with ash and sweetgrass is an undescribable experience. I grow and braid sweetgrass which make the house smell great and black ash has a wonderful delicate scent of lemon.

Nantucket Baskets are my second favorite type of basket to weave. I love turning bases and molding rims and handles... burning my trademark Compass Rose in the base and weaving crazy tight...

My third most favorite type of basket, which I don't get to weave as much as I would like is in the style of Hopi Third Mesa. These baskets just speak to me.

My other favorites are waxed linen baskets and paper baskets.

Most of my larger baskets end up at some point into miniature.

I'm part of many guilds, Northeast Basketmakers Guild, North Carolina Basketweavers Association, Long Island Basketweavers Guild, and Basket Weavers Guild of Eastern Long Island.
